I’m Saqib.
The second eldest, and the oldest son amongst nine children (school and college going at the time) who lost their single mothers in 2005. Five of Jalals (late, died 1987) children and four of Moids (late, suspicious death 2005) children. Mum, Tahira Jalal Uddin (murdered 2005) and her sister, Asma Moid (murdered 2005).
At the time of the murders, us children were aged:
Tahira & Jalals Children: Saimah 24, Saqib 22, Saadiah 20, Saad 18 and Sairah 16
Asma & Moids Children: Umer 20, Haider 18, Yasir 16 and Ayesha 12
This site is my endeavour to put together some of what I and the rest of the 8 children have lived through, witnessed and things that came to light through criminal and civil court documents and records about events leading up to the murders and what happened on the day of the murders. It is also a place where I shall try to put into words the difficult lives mum and Asma Khala led as single parents in raising 5 and 4 kids.
This site will hopefully help all those who knew Mum, her sister and/or their children as friends, students, colleagues, class mates, acquaintances with answers they had as to what happened and why. Questions most too genteel to ask
This has been extremely difficult to write, as it is personal and has affected both families in every single aspect of their being; from psychological and financial well being to leading healthy social lives. It is shocking for children that saw their father buried on the 29th June to witness their mother and her sister murdered 2 days later on the 1st of July, with spurts of blood emanating from their head shot wounds to have to lock themselves in the house with the dead bodies in utter terror while the gunman is still around. Children taking time off college to travel from Wah to Lahore (291 Kms) to re-live everything in front of judges over the years by repeating what they saw multiple times.
It is immensely difficult to see loved ones suffer life long trauma that has been inflicted on them for no fault of their own.
The callous murder of 2 innocent women, one a former teacher, the other a Principal of a school, single parents whose lives centred around their children and their education
The injustice of it all is terrifying…
